Juno Wellness offers laser hair removal in Herndon at 492 Elden St, on the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus®. Sessions start at $75 for a small area, $200 for a medium area and $300 for a large area.

You know the routine. The razor in the shower, the wax you keep rebooking, the stubble back by Thursday.

What if that routine took up less of your time? Laser hair removal is designed to reduce unwanted hair, so you spend less time shaving or booking the next wax.

Here is what treatment looks like at our Herndon clinic, what it costs and what you can realistically expect. To book, start on our laser hair removal service page in Herndon.

A close-up shot of a laser handpiece applied to a leg or arm, with clinical gloves and only part of the person visible. The treatment room should be white, very clean, and free of decoration. Ideally, the device should visually resemble the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus.

Who is laser hair removal for, and who should skip it?

Laser hair removal reduces unwanted hair with a focused beam of light. The light targets melanin, the pigment in hair, and turns into heat that damages the follicle, according to Mayo Clinic.

The practical benefit is longer-lasting hair reduction. After a full series, the American Academy of Dermatology says most patients see no hair on the treated skin for months, sometimes years. When hair returns, it tends to come back finer and lighter.

That does not mean the hair is gone permanently. Laser reduces hair, and some people need follow-up sessions.

If you shave or wax the same areas week after week, laser hair removal may be worth considering. Dark hair responds best, since the laser looks for pigment.

And what about your skin tone? Candela designed the GentleMax Pro Plus for use across a wide range of skin types. Settings still have to match your skin and hair, and Mayo Clinic says darker skin calls for an experienced provider.

Laser hair removal is not the best option for every person, hair color or treatment area. Talk to us first if:

  • Your hair is blonde, white, gray or red. These hairs carry little pigment, or a type the laser does not absorb well.

  • You want your eyebrows treated. Mayo Clinic advises against treating the eyelids, eyebrows and the skin around them, due to eye injury risk.

  • The area has a tattoo. Mayo Clinic advises against treating tattooed skin.

  • The extra hair is new or sudden. Laser removes hair, not its cause. Start with a perimenopause and menopause consultation.

What happens at a laser hair removal appointment in Herndon?

Step 1: the consultation. Treatment starts with a conversation about you.

Step 2: the weeks before.

  • Stay out of the sun, tanning beds and sunless tanners.

  • Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen, SPF 30 or higher.

  • Shave the area the day before.

Shaving before a laser appointment may sound counterintuitive, but there is a reason for it. The laser works on the follicle under the skin, so the hair above it only gets in the way.

Step 3: the session. You park for free at 492 Elden St and walk in. You put on protective eyewear, and Jennifer moves the handpiece across the area in pulses.

Wondering what it feels like or how long you will be there? Most people compare each pulse to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Small-area appointments generally take about 15 to 45 minutes, while larger areas such as full legs, full arms or the back may take around an hour. A full-body session may take about two hours.  Time depends on the treatment area.

Step 4: afterward. Expect redness and swelling for a few hours, often like a mild sunburn. The AAD notes that most people return to their everyday activities right after treatment.

Treated hair sheds over several days to weeks, Mayo Clinic says. Protect the area from the sun for six weeks after each session, or as Jennifer directs. That is one reason some patients prefer to begin during months with less sun exposure.

Who performs laser hair removal at Juno Wellness in Herndon?

The device matters, but so does the person operating it.

Jennifer Schmidt, CFNP, performs every laser hair removal session at Juno. She is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years in practice.

She holds Virginia nurse practitioner license 0024166627. The national NPI registry has listed her since 2005, under NPI 1700868320.

Why does that matter? Mayo Clinic advises choosing a trained medical professional and warns about places where non-medical staff run the laser.

Jennifer also serves as Juno’s Botox® and Xeomin® injector, and she works in hormone health. That background helps her recognize when new or unexpected hair growth may warrant a separate evaluation. You tell your story once.

Why choose a Herndon clinic for laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is not a one-visit treatment. Six sessions means six trips, and by the third one, the drive matters.

Laser hair removal in Herndon: frequently asked questions

Where can I get laser hair removal in Herndon, VA?

At Juno Wellness, 492 Elden St, Herndon, VA 20170, inside My Dr's Pharmacy. Jennifer Schmidt, CFNP, performs every session on the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus. Parking is free on site. Ready to find out whether laser hair removal is right for you? Call 703 775 4000 or email info@junowellness.com to book your consultation.

Is Juno close to Reston, Sterling or Ashburn?

Yes. Patients come to our Herndon clinic from Reston, Sterling, Ashburn, Great Falls, Vienna and Chantilly, across Fairfax and Loudoun counties. Free parking at 492 Elden St can make coming back for a treatment series more convenient. Our team speaks English, Spanish and Arabic.

How much is laser hair removal per session?

Sessions start at $75 for a small area, $200 for a medium area, and $300 for a large area. If you are planning for Juno’s recommended six-session starting plan, package pricing can lower the overall cost: $382.50 for a Small Area Pack of 6, $1,020 for a Medium Area Pack of 6, and $1,530 for a Large Area Pack of 6.

How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?

Juno recommends six as a starting plan, based on our clinical experience. The American Academy of Dermatology reports most patients need two to six treatments, and Mayo Clinic says four to eight. There is no single number that fits everyone: your hair, skin and treatment area decide your own number, and your consultation sets the plan.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

You may feel brief discomfort during each pulse. Most people compare each pulse to a rubber band snapping against the skin. The Candela system also uses a cooling device during treatment, designed to help make the experience more comfortable. According to Juno's clinical experience, discomfort is generally minimal compared with other types of laser treatment. Redness and swelling can follow for a few hours, often like a mild sunburn. Most people return to their everyday activities right after, according to the AAD.

Can you do laser hair removal on dark skin?

Yes, with the right laser and the right settings. Candela designed the GentleMax Pro Plus for use across a wide range of skin types. The device allows settings to be adjusted for darker skin tones. Mayo Clinic notes that darker skin calls for an experienced provider. Your consultation is the place to discuss your skin and hair and determine whether treatment fits you.

Does laser hair removal work on blonde, gray or red hair?

Not well. The laser targets pigment, and blonde, white and gray hair carry little of it. Red hair holds a type of melanin the laser does not absorb well, Mayo Clinic says. Not sure how your hair may respond? Talk with our team about your specific case.

Is laser hair removal in Herndon right for you?

Still deciding? Your hair color, skin tone, and the reason for unwanted hair can help point you toward the right next step.

  • Dark hair, same spot every week? Start with a consultation and see whether a six-session plan makes sense for you.

  • Darker skin? Book a consultation first and ask how Jennifer adjusts the laser settings for your skin.

  • Blonde, gray or red hair? Talk with us about your options.

  • New or sudden hair growth? Start with a wellness consultation at Juno.

Jennifer performs every session, so laser slots are limited each week. Prep takes about four weeks, so the earlier you book, the earlier you start.
