Collection Instructions

  • Come into our retail location to pick up your kit or request your kit to be mailed.

  • Do not  discontinue taking supplements, probiotics or prescription medications unless directed by your physician. 

  • Take test kit home and collect stool. If possible void urine prior to collecting stool. Collect stool by passing stool onto Collection tray.

  • Using the spoon attached to the cap of the vial, spoon stool from different areas of the sample into the vial. Fill vial to the red fill line. Just over half full.

  • Carefully mix stool and fluid with the spoon. Replace cap tightly and shake vial vigorously for 30 seconds.

  • Place cap vial into ziplock specimen bag along with absorbent pad. Seal the bag. Place the specimen bag with the sample vial into the kit box.

  • Place Test Request Form into the box with the sample and ship to laboratory. A shipping label is included with your test kit. Ship directly from your home. Please DO NOT bring kit back to the pharmacy. See shipping instructions below.**

  • Result turnaround time is 7-10 business days. We will call you once you results are in to go over the results with you. 

FAQs

What's Next after I submit my sample?

Wait until results get back to your provider. Once the test results are ready, you'l get an email or phone notification and will be asked to schedule your nutrition consultation to discuss the finding and action plan.

Is the nutrition consultation included in the price I'm paying?

Yes, the price includes the test kit and the nutrition interpretation consultation

What are the Test Kit collection requirements?

Test kits come with collection instructions for the patient.If you cannot ship the specimen on the day of collection, please refrigerate the sample.Specimens should be received by lab within 6 days of collection for optimal results. 

Is the patient responsible for postage?

No, test kits include a pre-paid envelope if mailed in the U.S.International customers must pay for shipping unless prior contract exists.

Can I drop off test kit at local FedEx office?

Yes, please follow the packing and shipping instructions provided with the test kit.

 

Are you In-network for insurance companies?

We are a Medicare provider.We are not contracted with any commercial insurance plans.We are considered Out-of-network but many plans recognize our specialized testing

Do I need to stop taking any of my medications before I collect my GI-MAP sample?

No. Please continue taking all medications as directed by your doctor.

I accidentally threw out test kit box. Can I use different box?

Yes, use any clean small box.

Absorbent Material missing:

Not needed, but you can use a napkin/paper towel.

I spilled some of the liquid from the collection vial. What should I do?

If you only spilled a small amount, you can still use the vial. Be sure to only fill the vial to the RED fill line. If you spilled a large amount or you feel you need a new vial, please contact your clinician or call Diagnostic Solutions for a replacement vial.

Can I ship my specimen on Friday?

Yes, it is ok to ship specimens to us on Friday. The lab receives specimens 6 days a week. We only require that the specimen be received within 6 days after collection.

Does the sample need to be refrigerated and/or frozen?

No.
